Philanthropy

When we launched Winners Edge in late 2019, our goal was to create a shoe designed specifically for the sport of pickleball. After over four years of building a team, designing, and testing, The Ultimate Pickleball Shoe finally became a reality: the P-38 Lightning.

But our lives took an unexpected turn, and so did our mission.

In November 2020, my wife Louise and I lost our only son, Derrick. He suffered with scoliosis throughout his life, but tragically, he died because of an addiction to Oxycodone. He was an extraordinary musician who brought joy to many through his music and teaching. This heartbreaking loss inspired us to honor his memory by establishing the Dynamic D. Music Fund, taking no compensation and committing all profits from our share of Winners Edge to support it and make the fund a reality.

Hank and Derrick

The mission of the Dynamic D. Music Fund is to provide free music lessons and equipment to underprivileged kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access, along with educating them about the dangers of drug use and addiction. Music and teaching were vital to Derrick’s life, and we want to ensure that as many children as possible have the opportunity to learn, play, and express themselves with the joy of music.

If you’ve purchased Winners Edge shoes, you’re part of this mission. Your purchase will help provide opportunities for underprivileged kids to experience the joys of music while keeping Derrick’s memory alive in a meaningful way.

Louise and I are so grateful for the support we’ve received, and we’re excited to see what the future holds. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

With gratitude,
Hank and Louise

  • California Wildfire Relief Donation

In January 2025, Winners Edge donated to the American Red Cross for California Wildfires Disaster Relief, providing housing and needed items for the victims of this devastating event. $20 of each purchase during this time went directly into the donation fund.

Whether you donated directly or helped us donate through a purchase, thank you for supporting our neighbors!
